If you want to monetize music content on your YouTube channel that is already in the database of the YouTube Content ID, it will not be approved immediately because the necessary rights are held by someone else from YouTube's perspective.
You will then receive information that your video is not suitable for monetization.
One possible reason for this is that you have purchased a beat, but do not have exclusive rights to it and the producer has delivered the beat to the Content ID themselves.
In such a case, you are not entitled to monetization.
However, if you do have exclusive rights and believe that monetization is being wrongfully denied, you can file a so-called objection.
This allows you to challenge YouTube's assumption that the rights belong to someone else, if you are certain that you hold all the rights.
This will trigger a conflict in YouTube's system, which will be passed on to the rights holders registered with YouTube, so that they can review the case and respond to it.
By doing this, you are objecting to YouTube's belief that the necessary rights do not belong to you.
However, such an objection is only necessary in individual cases.
If one of your videos receives a claim from us (or on behalf of Merlin), a "copyright complaint" will be displayed for this video in YouTube Studio.
If you want to monetize the video through the YouTube Content ID (through us), you can simply ignore this notification.
Attention: Please do not file such an objection if you have already delivered the affected music to the YouTube Content ID through recordJet.
The same content can only be in the database once.
In this case, the message you receive from YouTube will look like this:
As you can see in the bottom right corner, recordJet is listed as the copyright holder in this case, as the content was delivered to the Content ID through us.
In this case, the same track cannot be monetized through your own channel.
You would essentially be objecting against yourself, as the monetization through us was also desired by you.
If you ever want to monetize a video yourself, but the Content ID is active through us, please contact [email protected] and request deactivation of the Content ID for the affected release.
We will be happy to do this for you, so that you can monetize through your own channel.
