In which format must the audio files be uploaded?

Written by Benno

To upload your music to recordJet, your songs must be in the following format:

  • File type: WAV or FLAC

  • Channels: Stereo

  • Sample rate: 44.1kHz - 192kHz

  • Sample size: 16bit - 32bit

Please make sure that you do not save any metadata or tags in the audio files.

Important: Since the stores accept different formats, your songs may be automatically converted by us into the required format. We always try to supply all stores with the highest possible quality.

In addition to the upload for normal audio files, there are also two special upload options for Apple Music/iTunes:

Apple Digital Master

Apple Music/iTunes offers the option of uploading a special mastering ("Apple Digital Master"), which is then marked with a corresponding symbol in the store. However, the e-mail address of an Apple-certified audio engineer must be provided.

You can find more information about this service here.

Dolby Atmos

"Dolby Atmos goes beyond the ordinary listening experience and puts you spatially inside the song so that every detail of the music is reproduced with unparalleled clarity and depth."

It is possible to deliver your Dolby Atmos songs to iTunes/Apple Music and Amazon without any problems.

The files must meet the following requirements:

  • File type: BWF, ADM, WAV

  • Maximum file size: 5 GB

  • Channels: 5.1 or 7.1 surround

  • Sample size: 16-bit to 24-bit

  • Sample rate: at least 48 kHz

  • No upmix from stereo

  • Max. 128 audio tracks (beds + objects)

  • No full-range audio in the LFE channel

Important: Here you will find a more detailed list of Apple’s requirements. All of these conditions must be met, so please read them carefully: https://help.apple.com/itc/videoaudioassetguide/#/itcf946aaace

If the requirements are not fully met, Apple will generally reject the Dolby Atmos files.
